1. Play procedure
To play the Jackpot Slots video slot machine:
a. Make an initial Deposit ($1 and up).
Your Deposit will be added to your current Balance.
b. Place an initial Bet ($1, $5,...,$500,$1000,$5000).
Your Bet will not be applied to your current Balance
until after the end of the next Spin cycle.
c. Click on the Spin button.
d. Wait until the Spin cycle ends, or
e. Press the Stop button -- to end the Spin cycle at once.
f. Wait until the Payout amount is displayed.
If you win, your current Balance will be increased by the
amount of the Payout less the amount of your Bet.
If you lose, your current Balance will be decreased by the
amount of your Bet.
Note: Pressing the keyboard Enter key at any time is
equivalent to clicking on either Spin or Stop,
depending on which mode is currently active.
2. Deposits/Withdraws/Bets
At any time, except during a Spin cycle:
a. Deposits: Deposit any positive whole dollar amount, $1 and up.
Select "House Limit" to bet the $5,000,000 House Limit.
Your Deposit will be added to your current Balance.
b. Withdraws: You can Withdraw any amount, up to your current Balance.
Select "House Excess" to Withdraw amounts over the House Limit.
Select "Cash Out" to Withdraw the entire current Balance.
Your Withdraw amount will be subtracted from your current Balance.
c. Bets: Bet $1,$5,...,$500,$1000,$5000. Or "Bet It All".
Your Bet will not affect your current Balance until after results
are calculated immediately following a Spin cycle.
3. Slot Machine Icons
The Jackpot Slots video slot machine has three slot windows.
And there are these 10 unique slot icons per slot window:
Lemon, Cherry, Jackpot, Skull, Heart,
Shamrock, King, Star, Dollar, Bell
These 10 icons always repeat in the same order in each slot window.
At the end of a Spin cycle, each icon can stop either fully displayed
in a slot window, or half-way displayed in a slot window. Payouts are
based only on fully displayed slot icons.
4. The Payouts for a $1 Bet are as follows:

Note: To view this PAYOUTS table at any time, except
during a Spin cycle, click on the Stop button.
5. Cycles for each icon during a Spin cycle
The total number of icons displayed in each slot window
varies, and is determined randomly by ActionScript code.
The range is from about 45 to 285 frames. A slot icon is
displayed for 10 frames. So there are about 4.5 to 28.5
different slot icons displayed in each slot window during
each Spin cycle.
There are 10 unique slot icons at 10 frames per icon, or
100 frames per complete icon cycle. So, there is a maximum
of about 285 / 100 equals 2.8 icon cycles per Spin cycle.
6. Elapsed Time for each Spin cycle
The frame rate is currently set at 20 frames per second.
At about 45 to 285 frames displayed per Spin cycle, each
time cycle lasts from about 4.5 to 28.5 seconds, and for
about 12 seconds average.
Note: This time has now been "cut in half" by displaying
only every other motion tweened icon per cycle.
7. "Stopping points" per Spin cycle
Icons stop either 100% or 50% displayed in each window. So,
for 10 unique slot icons, there are 20 unique "stopping points"
per 100 frame unique icon cycle.
Payouts are issued based on 100% displayed slot icons only.
Icons that end up 50% displayed are ignored in the payout.
8. The Current Implementation
a. Flash MX 2004 implementation:
One frame is used on the Main stage, to hold all of the
graphic information displayed, and the ActionScript code,
for the Jackpot Slots video slot machine.
The 10 slot icons are contained in a separate movie clip
consisting of about 100 frames, with 10 frames for each
slot icon animation sequence.
The Spin cycle animation is provided and controlled by a
series of "gotoAndStop()" statements executed dynamically
by ActionScript program code.
b. ActionScript program code:
There are 1822 source program code lines in version "03d".

10. Future enhancements planned
a. Sound. Sound files are to be added.
b. An animated slot machine are is to be added.
11. A "Trick"
To "Win" (almost) every time:
a. Wait until you see the Lemon and the Cherry come by
in any slot window.
b. Then, just before the Cherry disappears, click on Stop.
c. A Jackpot icon will be selected. And it pays 50 to 1!
d. By Betting "Bet It All", you can quickly accumulate the
House Limit of $5,000,000.
Note: This is an initial implementation of the Jackpot Slots
video slot machine.
